Thursday, March 12, 2020 CANCELLED

Meeting at the Bellevue Botanical Garden

[MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO CLOSURE OF THE BBG] Our March talk is by Mark Turner, professional photographer, and will be a brand-new program featuring wildflowers from two of his favorite places in Washington: the Vantage area and the high ridges of the North Cascades.

Here is some information about Mark from his website:

Whether it’s wildflowers in the landscape, showing their growth habit and companion plants, or individual specimen photographs, Mark Turner is the northwest wildflower photography expert. Almost every photo in his library of thousands of images is captioned in detail with common names, Latin names, and location. He has worked with other wildflower experts to provide complete and accurate identifications. His photos combine an artist’s eye with scientific knowledge to show important identifying features. Mark Turner has been photographing the Pacific Northwest since moving to Bellingham in 1990. Mark’s work has been published on covers and inside magazines like Garden Design, Sunset, American Gardener, Horticulture, Organic Gardening, and Birds and Blooms as well as in numerous garden books. He has three solo books. Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest, an American Horticultural Society Book Award winner (co-authored with Phyllis Gustafson), Trees and Shrubs of the Pacific Northwest (coauthored with Ellen Kuhlmann), and Bellingham Impressions, a a softcover coffee-table book enjoyed by Bellingham lovers around the world. He travelled over 45,000 miles throughout Washington and Oregon in 2003 and 2004 to find and photograph the flowers which are included in the award-winning Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest, published by Timber Press in 2006. Since then, he’s continued to photograph wildflowers and add them to his library.

Social time begins at 7.00 pm, meeting starts at 7.30 pm! Looking forward to seeing you there!
