Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you all had a great holiday!

 

Our January talk features horticulture writer, consultant, and educator Christina Pfeiffer speaking on "How to Prune - So You Don't Have to Prune So Often". I have lots of trees and shrubs to keep in shape in our rather small city garden so this is a great topic for me. Winter is a busy season for gardeners for cleaning, pruning, and conditioning so I'm sure her talk will help us to minimize the work that we have to do!

 

Here is a brief bio of Christina:

 

Christina Pheiffer is a horticulture writer, educator and consultant with 40 years experience in landscape management and arboriculture. Sustainable and efficient landscape techniques are a special area of interest

 

and expertise. She led landscape management efforts at the Holden Arboretum and Washington Park Arboretum. She is a frequent speaker for local horticulture groups and public programs including the NW Flower and Garden Show, Master Gardener programs, and public classes at the UW Botanical Gardens. Christina is a part-time instructor at Edmonds Community College Horticulture program. She holds degrees in horticulture from Michigan State and the University of Washington and is an ISA Certified Arborist. She is the author, with Mary Robson, of Pacific Northwest Month-byMonth Gardening, Cool Springs Press, 2017. Signed books are available at presentation events. She provides engaging seminars on a variety of landscape and garden care topics, with an emphasis on sustainable best horticultural practices and current research.
